Babylonstoren

The Hanging Gardens of Babylonstoren is in a class of its own. This original 17th century Cape Dutch homestead nestled in the heart of the winelands in Franschoek, is one of the oldest in the Cape and once again a working farm.

Whitewashed stone walls, beautiful outhouse buildings, thatch roofs, with a rustic Amish feeling. The courtyard is peaceful in this perfect setting. The incredible gardens are a contrast against Mother Nature’s mountain backdrop. This spectacular view is breath taking!

Babylonstoren has managed to create a modern approach to a traditional working farm. By using their own produce to invent a mélange of fabulous food sensations, vibrant colors that marry well together. All the wonderful fruits and vegetables from their farm are used in their unique dishes. The Red, Green or Yellow salad resonats with nature. Herbal tea that you mix yourself and cakes to die for!

During our lunch, we were introduced to a friend of BuzzyB!s, Reza Mahammad (Star of India), a renowned chef from London, he too was blown away by this magical place. We must B! gratful for living in such a land. B! happy and enjoy nature at its best. You never know, this could become one of the Seven Wonders of the Cape.

P.S. I did find the meal to B! a bit expensive, but the beauty and the place is amazing, so worth it!
