The Back Buzz on the Alphen Hotel – As promised here is the surprise buzz from HoneyB! who will receive a beautiful hamper full of honey products for doing such a sweet blurb.
The historic Alphen Hotel was relaunched on Saturday evening, where they show cased the newly refurbished 5 star Boutique Hotel, and I must say I was very impressed. Not only with the beautiful decor but with the party itself!
The Alphen Hotel closed down some time ago and pretty much disappeared from my hit list, so I was very interested to see what Paul Kovensky(owner of Paranga, Zen Zero and The Kove) had done with the place.
The Boutique Hotel sports two delightful restaurants, ‘La Belle Cafe & Bakery’ and for more formal dining ‘5 Rooms’. The party was held over 3 levels which flowed out onto the delightfully redesigned, landscaped gardens. With an ‘open’ bar on each level, guests were very well catered for, in terms of free flowing drinks, and I saw some delightful canapés moving around the crowds, including some delicious Macaroons (my favourite treat right now). Russ Nerwich and his Jazz band entertained for the first half of the evening which suited the surroundings perfectly, and I spotted most of Cape Town’s socialites enjoying the event.
Well done to Paul Kovensky for relaunching this stunning hotel and congrats to Marina from the Little Black Book who organized the event. It’s always so good to add a new spot on the list to visit over the season and I very much look forward to viewing his next feat that of the new ‘La Med’ which he launches in December.
