Building Blocks Children’s Home

BBCH in Pinelands, Cape Town, is a temporary home and refuge for abandoned, abused and HIV positive babies.

Building Blocks has been screened and approved by Child Welfare, and is officially registered as a place of safety. Jenny Berger in charge of Building Blocks is, giving, kind, loving and full of compassion. She has concentrated on creating a small family nucleus of 6 children with a house mother.

All of the babies brought to Building Blocks come legally through Child Welfare and are either unwanted or removed for social reasons. They stay at Building Blocks until such time as Child Welfare finds a suitable placement.

For the time they are with Jenny and her staff, the children are given the care needed in a safe homely environment where sleep, play, eat and love is all that a child needs.

For the second year running on board the MSC Sinfonia, Kim Kaleen founder and creator of Building Blocks held a fundraising event on 8th November. All of the guests who came out in support of the charity were treated to champagne, canapés and a buffet supper. The all-female band Coda entertained the guests with their electrifying music, until auctioneer Phillip Powel charmed and humoured everyone, whilst skilfully raising enough money to go towards the creation of two more safe havens and homes for the little ones.

Raising funds is never easy; Cape Town Buzz would like to thank all who have participated towards helping this worthy cause. While this fund raising event is over, raising funds is never over. If you can and would like to give to make a difference, please do.
