-KLUK CGDT LAUNCHES IN CAPE TOWN-
Early last month, the B!’s attended the fabulous launch of KLUK & CGDT’s new flagship store, nestled in the heart of the Mother City on Bree Street.
What a treat, to buzz amongst the likes of Elana Afrika, Matthew & Sonia Booth, Colin Moss, fashion’s who’s who, and sophisticated socialites- let alone being in the presence of two of the most talented designers South Africa has to offer- at the exclusive preview of their gorgeous new boutique. Malcolm Kluk and Christiaan Gabriel Du Toit (CGDT, in case anyone was wondering where the abbreviation came from), are the names behind the world renowned brand, showcased at New York Fashion Week last year. Their vision for this new boutique in Cape Town is to “bring South African’s the experience of an international boutique.” Well this store most certainly does just that!
On arrival, the ambiance was a little hard to make out. To get us into the swing of things, we flew across to the bar, to get our sticky hands on a delicious Belvedere Vodka Cocktail. The 100% Belvedere Bar looked absolutely stunning, and very apt to the curious and slightly unusual vibe around us.
A large screening of the KLUK-CGDT feature at New York Fashion Week 2011, was projected on the wall, showcasing stunning fashion images of the designers range. With dramatic music to set the scene and the runway show screening as a backdrop, soon enough gorgeous models clad in the exquisite garments made their way through the crowd. We now knew we had hit the buzz! They appeared on raised platforms and took peoples breath away in what we were all there to see- THE FASHION!
Vivid Luxury, representing some of the worlds’ most prestigious brands, did a fantastic job at organizing this event in association with Belvedere Vodka, and it was most certainly a night to remember. What was not so buzzing, however, was the crowd… Is it just a thing with some Capetonians? Eat, drink, snap a few shots then “gotta dash”? Despite being disappointed by many of the fast fading guests, a fun night was had all in all… Brilliant live South African music, delectably delicious delicacies and a free flowing bar, was enough reason to keep us glued to this hive, a while after the fashionable buzz had subsided.
