Dutch Manor antique hotel 1812

Dutch Manor 1812

Let’s go Dutch! The vibrant multi-cultural Bo-Kaap is rich in history of days gone by. Step off the pavement and go back in time as you enter an era at the Dutch Manor antique hotel.

Home away from home and everything you ever wished for, only to find quality and perfection at the Manor, enhanced by the beautiful antiques in this 1812 building where these masterpieces belong. This historical period was rich in opulence and charm, and when craftsmanship was respected and unique in its trade. The comfort and peace that you will experience here is magnificent and it is just this that will bring you back time and time again.

Among the antiques to B! found are yellowwood half-moon tables, a Cape-mahogany reception desk, original 18th century four-poster stinkwood beds, authentic bedside lamps, gilded mirrors and original armoires that loom in their grandeur towards the high beamed ceilings, which set the ambience in this typical 18th century style. It’s the real deal, the McCoy!

Sisters, Yanic and Heloise Smit who run the Dutch Manor, welcomed me with a glass of wine on the stoep on a hot summers evening.  The sounds and atmosphere of the Bo-Kaap matched the colourful houses and cobble stoned streets, that surrounds this amazing jewel which has been embedded here since Jan van Riebeeck’s time, and is still dazzling today.

Supper was served on the rooftop prepared by Heloise, a master chef in creating dishes of scrumptious delight. She uses produce from the Bo-Kaap, preparing a green salad with figs and ricotta, pomegranates and cucumber, a secret dressing with herbs from her secret garden.  Our main meal was fish wrapped in prosciutto on a bed of summer veggies. It was out of this world!

So why settle for anything less when you can have so much more?   My overnight stay at the Dutch Manor was a blast from the past!
