Lawrence Graff an English jeweler of international magnitude, has the reputation for being the King of Diamonds because of the handling of rare and beautiful stones. Driven by passion for perfection, Mr. Graff stops at nothing to achieve such quality.
The Graff jewelry boutiques around the world mark the success of his brand. Celebrities and discerning clientele, Kings and heads of state have graced a Graff boutique, to simply acquire an exquisite piece of jewelry.
His empire includes the Delaire Estate, which is a rare jewel in itself, set in the Banhoek valley – International Architect/Interior Designer David Collins has raised African chic to a new level with a glorious mixture of Cape Dutch and contemporary architecture. Mr. Graff’s love for contemporary art is showcased in and among the stunning design of Delaire.
Both international and local artists and sculptors such as Deborah Bell, William Kentridge, Fred Schimmel, Dylan Lewis, Anton and Lionel Smit, Ndikhumbule Ngqinambi to name but a few are on display in and around the estate and of course the home coming of ‘chinese girl’ – Vladimir Tretchikoff.
On one occasion at a charity dinner at Delaire, I met Monika Pon-su-san, the model that sat for Tretchikoff. For me she will always be a beautiful and mysterious icon.
My own experience at Delaire meets the highest standards and remains to be one of the best.
There are two restaurants to choose from, The Graff Restaurant (bistro chic) and Indochine, offering modern Asian inspired cuisine. The100% Capri Boutique is European retail luxury, based on European prices. I had a peek view of the newly refurbished Spa facilities, which I have yet to experience, but! Today was another unique day and as I sat sipping a delicious glass of Sauvignon Blanc, overlooking the gardens designed by Keith Kirsten, I felt at that moment grateful for being there. The stillness and breathtaking views of Mother Natures beauty in the Helshoogte Pass, is God’s signature and Masterpiece of one of His paintings.
