Cape Town is a very special place to live and a very special place to love. In my opinion it should be one of the chosen modern Wonders of the World. Around every corner, nook and cranny the visual beauty is spectacular; enchanting sunsets, magnificent mountains, forests and the ocean.
Start your day trip in Hout Bay at the Chapmans Peak hotel for a coffee, then drive over the Peak and experience the breath-taking views where, you can stop for that picture perfect postcard shot. Wind your way through the mountain pass road all the way into Noordhoek. Stop for a walk on the beach but don’t go alone. Then go towards Kommetjie and stop off at the Umhoff Farm lots to do including my favorite, Artisan Goats cheese, located to the left of the main entrance, the cheese dairy, shop and tasting room. Carry on towards Misty Cliffs along the coastline and watch the surfers hang and dolphins play. Then carry onto Scarbrough. If you stop for lunch try the Whole Earth Cafe its really good.
Head off in the direction of the Point. Keep your eyes open for baboons – BUT! DO NOT FEED THE BABOONS! They are very dangerous. Go into the reserve to the Point and see the two oceans meet, if you enjoy crayfish my advice is the Two Oceans Restaurant with a stunning view over looking the ocean from the terrace.
Continue your journey to Simon’s Town, cute shops and harbor. Then onto Boulders Beach to see the penguins. The Scratch Patch just before Kalk Bay is fun – you can collect your own mix of semi-precious stones, great gift for someone. Kalk Bay the next port of call is one of my best stops. Have a Mojito’s at Cape to Cuba, they are pretty good and a stroll down the main road, you will find a few bric-a-brac antique shops and an overflow of china at, Whatnot & China Town. Big Blue is a fun shop for crazy stuff and ‘Memory Lane’ sometimes has a hidden treasure. The Olympia café for mussels (the best in town) and end off the day at the Habour House overlooking the ocean for sun-downers.
African drums are often on the spot. So get with the beat and enjoy the African heat.
