What really impresses me about walking into a store, is the experience, and even more so, the little details that people create to make that experience top class. The first time I walked into Uwe Koetter, I was with my friend who was having her engagement ring shined. Without any hesitation, Johan Louw, who we were dealing with, noticed that I was also wearing a ring (not an engagement ring!) and offered to have it shined free of charge. Not only did he make my bride-to-be-friend feel like the princess she is, but he made sure I felt I was just as important. A quality that everyone in sales should have.
Much to my delight I was invited to the grand store opening as Uwe Koetter have just opened up a concept showroom in the Cape Quarter. My expectations were high and they were most certainly met. On arrival we were presented with a designer glass of Allee Bleue bubbly, I say designer because each glass contained a small ‘diamond’ at the bottom and one lucky guest had a real diamond valued at R16 000. I unfortunately couldn’t stay very long and didn’t get to see who the winner was, but I did manage to find out all about the new concept store.
Johan Louw, who I mentioned earlier, is South Africa’s most awarded jewellery designer. He designed my friends engagement ring, in secret along with the groom-to-be. Not only does he design amazing jewellery, but Uwe Koetter offer a range of luxury watch brands such as TAG Heuer, Gucci, Hermes, Frédérique Constant & Ebel. The store is a first for Africa and offers an in-store Bubbly Bar by Allee Bleue Wine Estate as well as a full service Wedding and Special Events Consultancy by the Aleit Group.
This really is a remarkable store, the interior is clean cut and simple, which is perfect as it show cases the jewellery in its absolute splendour. As I had to dash off, my friend and I were each given a limited edition Uwe Koetter umbrella. This really was the cherry on top to the experience. It is a vintage style, classic umbrella and I’m looking forward to the next rainy day!
