Here is a list of theaters in and around Cape Town, purely for your pleasure. Be in the know about the buzz, where to go, what to do and how to do it! My recommendations are based on my everyday lifestyle and with that come the personal taste and experiences, which I will update on a regular basis.
The Baxter: The Baxter celebrates live theatre, music, dance, and plays. It is one of the major live theatre venues in Cape Town. Even though I find the architecture grotesque, a block of ugly boring brick with no charm or beauty, one has to be amazed at the creative productions that take place within the heart of a soulless building.Main Road Rondebosch Cape Town Tel: (021) 685 7880
The Fugard: looms over District Six, the Congregational Church Hall has been renovated and become an important addition to the theatre scene in Cape Town. Athol Fugard, South Africa’s iconic playwright has been the driving force with many of his works playing the leading role in this gothic-style church, which is now a theatre full of charm and character and home to many artists.Caledon Street Cnr of Harrington Street District Six Cape Town Tel: (021) 461 4554
The Masque: I love The Masque Theatre in Muizenberg, it is the performance home to a number of amateur dramatic societies in Cape Town. I have seen so many fantastic top quality performances at the Masque that all I can say is, if you not familiar with the theatre I suggest you check it out. You will love it!37 Main Road Muizenberg Tel: (o21) 7886999
