TRIBUTE CONCERT TO OUR FIREFIGHTERS

Out of the ashes the Phoenix will rise!
The devastating fires that tore through the Cape peninsula on the 3rd March 2015 were heart wrenching. The force of nature was cruel and harsh as the blaze raged and ravished everything in sight. Then the wind turned and fueled this outrageous fire, it went down, down, down, in a ring of fire around the Peninsula.
Our heroic firefighters fought relentlessly as they went to battle on one of the most brutal fires the Mother City has ever endured. She was under attack and under fire, forcing residents to evacuate in the middle of the night. They stood and watched in shock as the terrifying and dramatic scenes unfolded around them. All that was between them and the gigantic walls of flame were the men and women in the fire jackets and helmets. Capetonians came out in full force against the force of nature and helped wherever they could.
Eventually all was brought under control by these brave firefighters from Working on Fire, Volunteer Wildfire Services and the SANDF and N.S.R.I. Thank you, thank you for your bravery.
Last Thursday evening at the Cape Point Vineyards, Arno Carstens and Hot Water preformed at the Thursday evening market. To add to the evening’s entertainment, Stella meaning (Star) a five year old little girl, sang a Johnny Cash song, ‘Ring of Fire’, in tribute to the firefighters. It was a very moving moment and I can assure you not many dry eyes were around. The Noordhoek community was one of the hardest hit areas.
All funds collected at the event will be donated towards the purchase of fire trucks for specific use in the South Peninsula!
