My name is Tracy-Leigh, brand name QueenB! I am a Swiss national, born and educated in South Africa and the founder of Cape Town Buzz.
While modeling back in the day, I worked and lived in Paris, Milan, London, Tokyo, and New York. My mother agent was Eileen Ford in New York City. But! I preferred living and working in Europe. It was much more of a vibe back then, and I was working for some of the top couture and prêt-à-porter houses worldwide – Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Nina Ricci, Versace, Hanae Mori, Bill Blass, Calvin Klein, to name a few. Europe was the place to be.
It was a thrilling time; the industry was abuzz with iconic fashion designers and star photographers who were shooting covers for Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmo, and, of course, the “Bible of fashion,” Women’s Wear Daily (also known as WWD).
The Fairchild Family Empire was a very powerful trade journal that could make or break a designer’s collection. It reported information on changing trends and breaking news. Everybody feared Mr. John Fairchild, an instinctive genius who was the driving force in fashion at WWD.
When I found “the one” and got married to my really good-looking Italian husband, we lived in London and moved between Italy, France, and Switzerland. These early days of European life, education, and culture formed an interesting part of my character.
I am now divorced and live in Cape Town. I enjoy writing about buzz-worthy places that I find interesting in and around the Mother City and internationally. This is my personal inspiration and the driving force behind Cape Town Buzz.
When I leave Hive HQ, I write about my experiences of places of interest, hype, and fun. This is my buzz.
