LA PETITE DAUPHINE FRANSCHOEK

There is nothing small about La Petite Dauphine – in an understated grand way, La Petite Dauphine is a precious little gem, a surprise pearl in an oyster. This historical working fruit and wine Guest Farm is set in the picturesque surroundings of the Mountain Valley on the outskirts of Franschoek. The natural beauty is magnificent! The sunsets are surreal and seeing these, I can only imagine how Turner would have put his brushstrokes to canvas and created a masterpiece.

La Petite Dauphine reminds me so much of Provence in France. The stonework and architecture, similar to that of the countryside in the South, gives a romantic yet simple feeling of being there. The chalets are private, beautifully decorated in a classic and cozy way. Each chalet has its own little garden and plunge pool. The rest of the grounds are spacious with a magnificent backdrop of the mountains.

At any time of day, the patio of the old Café Bon Bon is gracious and quaint. Here you can experience the tasteful and satisfying menu of traditional dishes and homemade breads. If you stay overnight, dinner in the dining room provides a more intimate experience. Wine tasting is at your fingertips in the wine tasting room. The charming, super chic library is filled with tasteful objects acquired during the owners’ worldly travels.  It is the perfect setting for a nightcap. Voilà! C’est la vie
