TURKEY – YALIKAVAK BODRUM

Yalıkavak sits on the Aegean coast of Turkey, on the northern side of Bodrum. Inhabited since around the second millennium BCE, this quiet, secluded Bay was formerly known for her quaint charm, historic marvels, sponge diving and fishing. However, the town is now both a stopover and destination for the tourists and jet-setters of the world.

While the charm and history remain, sleepy Yalıkavak has adopted a new image with the development of Palmarina Bodrum, designed by famous Turkish architect Emre Arolat. This hub for state of the art Superyachts has brought Yalıkavak into the modern era, completely transforming it from the dazzling little port into a stylish and sophisticated luxury attraction.

Turkey is rocking the boat for competitors such as Porto Montenegro, located in the Bay of Kotor, OneOcean Port Vell, Barcelona, Port Vauban, South of France and St Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands by adding itself to the list of these ports with the capacity to berth mega-yachts, without blinking an eye.

Alongside the Marina, the palm-studded promenade runs parallel to the modern glossy arcade where you can meander among the cafes and restaurants. Huge floor-to-ceiling windows showcase a variety of designer brands for shopaholics, yacht owners, tourists and window shoppers.

At the end of the marina the well-known restaurant, Zuma, holds the prime spot and offers uninterrupted views of the Aegean Sea. Each year, between June and mid-September, this exclusive eatery pops up in Yalikavak Palmarina and allows visitors to experience exquisite, modern, Japanese fine dining, while overlooking the Aegean sea and watching the breathtaking sunsets.
