Kloof Street House Restaurant

A Victorian house in the heart of the city, Kloof House is one of the most buzz-worthy restaurants on Kloof Street. Candlelit dinners, leisurely lunches in the garden, and drinks at the bar unfold in an atmosphere that effortlessly crisscrosses between 1920s romance and comfortable, homely chic.
Sunday lunch in the garden is well worth your while—laid-back and peaceful, accompanied by smooth jazz to nourish your soul with the greatest sounds of yesterday.
The culinary experience from the kitchen is all about hearty, wholesome cooking. I was thrilled with my starter: beef tagliata with rocket, Parmesan cheese, and cherry tomatoes. For my main, I had Moroccan-spiced lamb on flatbread with red cabbage slaw and tahini yogurt—absolutely delicious!
My companion started with chicken livers that were so outstanding, he was too engrossed in the scrumptious flavors to take a snapshot. For his main, he had the special of the day—meatloaf—which was simply perfect!
We did, however, manage to share a signature dessert: salted caramel cheesecake served with popcorn sorbet. It took me completely by surprise because I hardly ever eat dessert!
Kloof House is all about wholesome cooking, atmosphere, and flair, with a delightful bistro-style cuisine. Truly one of Cape Town’s little gems.
