Kloof Street House Restaurant
Victorian house in the heart of the city is one of the buzz-worthy restaurants on Kloof. Candle lit dinners, lunch in the garden, drinks at the bar in an atmosphere, that eclectically crisscrosses between 1920’s romance to comfortable homely chic.
Sunday lunch in the garden is well worth your while – laid-back and peaceful, accompanied by all that jazz to nourish your soul, with some of the greatest sounds of yesterday.
The culinary experience that comes out of the kitchen is full of hearty cooking. I was thrilled with my starter, beef tagliata with rocket, parmesan cheese and little tomatoes. As a main, I had Moroccan spiced lamb on flatbread with red cabbage slaw and tahini yoghurt, absolutely delicious! My companion had chicken livers to start that were outstanding; he was so engrossed in the scrumptious flavors, he forgot to take a snapshot. For his main he had the special of the day, meatloaf that was perfect! We did manage to share a signature desert – salted caramel cheesecake served with popcorn sorbet, it took me totally by surprise because I hardly ever eat desert!
Kloof House is all about wholesome cooking, atmosphere, flair and a Bistro style cuisine, truly one of Cape Towns little gems.
