FLY IN A HUEY HELICOPTER

Flying in a Huey has got to be one of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever had! The Huey helicopter is not a gentle spin around the Peninsula or a leisurely trip up the West Coast. It’s the ultimate high in the sky that gives you an adrenaline rush sending butterflies to the pit of your stomach. My recent experience was mind blowing I will definitely do it again.

Flying in a Huey with the doors open and nothing but a thin seat belt buckling you in, is daunting at first then it’s exciting! The sound of the engine and sensation of the engine’s power is uber-sexy, so I faced my fear and it disappeared as we continued to be whisked up into the high blue sky.

When the Huey lifts off, it hovers for a bit, then in minutes the mighty bird dips its nose and soars ahead. To my absolute amazement, it went up at a 90-degree angle almost cutting out, only to dip its nose down suddenly and swarm over land and sea fast and furiously. I felt breathless and vulnerable as the excitement gripped me. If you have the nerve to do it, put it on your ‘Bucket List’ – you will love it!

When it was time to land the Huey, the touchdown was gentle and graceful. The Huey will fly the skies again in another sensational flight. Until then all I want to say…… what a bird.
