RUGBY – THE WEBB ELLIS CUP IS HOME

South Africa steam-rolled England winning the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. Back home the entire nation celebrated the surprising win. The championship final was a battle of strength and mental power, but united and strong it was the Bokke Boys came through, bringing home the Webb Ellis Cup

On Monday 12th November The Bokke took Cape Town by storm as they reached the final leg of their week-long mobile parade through SA! The crowd was euphoric out in their masse. In South African slang the word ‘Gees’ (spirit) was in every rugby lovers heart. It was truly a magnificent homecoming. South Africa are world champions yet again, and the thought of this title will leave the country rejoicing for months to come. The Springboks did it! Way to Go Bokke!

My thoughts go back to the host country Japan. What a sterling job they did, how the nation conducted the world cup with such enthusiasm and spirit; it was handled to perfection in true Japanese style and professional excellence. What amazed me was how the little mascots memorized all the anthems of every participating country; a show of respect and honour that was extraordinary!

Thank you Japan and congratulations for going all out for the love of Rugby, recognizing one of the world’s greatest contact sports.

There is a buzz that one day Japan too will have their country engraved on the Webb Ellis Cup – their form and performance was a testimony of greater things to come.

Kanpai (cheers) Japan
