CHEF’S WAREHOUSE
Liam Tomlin goes for gold with the Chef’s Warehouse at Beau Constantia Wine Estate. This trendy hot spot on Constantia Nek, is prime property offering breathtaking views overlooking the valley and across to the Hottentots-Holland Mountains on a clear day.
The Chef’s Warehouse has a minimalist interior with plenty of wood and glass providing natural light and undisturbed views. The modern building suits the ambiance and lends itself towards the surrounding nature; the simple décor is pleasing to the eye.
Following in the footsteps of his sister restaurant at 92 Bree Street, Liam’s concept continues to create a delightful and colorful culinary experience. Beautifully plated dishes are full of fresh seasonal produce that marries well together, awakening your sleepy taste buds during this gastronomic food orgasm.
Ivor Jones, previously the head chef at The Test Kitchen, is at the head of the realm in this buzzing kitchen. Ivor goes about creating masterpiece dishes in a calm and methodical way – to the palate the outcome is unexpected surprise and sensory pleasure. The fact that the dishes change daily means that each meal is a unique and refreshing experience.
The Tapas for 2 menu is the signature dish and consists of 8 tastes. My personal experience was a delightful journey through taste, paired with excellent wine. One may say it’s a bit pricey but, frankly, the quality is what you pay for and I wouldn’t be satisfied with anything less.
