Corsets – Shape up

The corset was an important article of underclothing which enhanced the figure giving it an hourglass silhouette. It was during the 16th and 17th centuries that the corset was aimed at flattening the chest, but after 1660 the corset took on a whole new look and was shaped to accentuate the breasts.
Modern day corsets are a far cry from the pain that women once had to endure to look sexy. Over the year’s iconic figures such as Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Dita Von Tesse and Madonna, to name but a few, have all donned corsets to accentuate their bodies, whether on the silver screen or in public. Corsetry and lingerie seduction has been around for centuries.
In the 21st century, Victoria’s Secret lingerie retail store was started by businessman Roy Raymond who felt embarrassed to shop for lingerie for his wife in a department store environment. Victoria’s secret was born, thus revolutionising this industry and became a huge multi-million USD company in just five years.
In 2005 Matildas.co.za/lingerie, a South African company, became one of the first of its kind in e-commerce online shopping to grace our shores. This subtle art of seduction in lingerie is just one of the little spices in life that titillate, allure and attract us to being sexy. Sensational lacy corsets, satin bras, silk panties, sexy twin sets and negligées are here to stay.
